Old Testament

My Father’s Amazing Gift
And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.
                                                                                                                               (Genesis 2:19)

My father had an amazing way with animals…

I remember seeing a picture of him as a teenager with a live fox draped across his shoulders…

I remember seeing him walking around the house with a baby bunny living in his shirt pocket…

I remember seeing him working on the truck with a raccoon playing with his tools…

I remember my sister telling me about the family of skunks that would follow him into the house…

I remember my brother telling me how he would grab the bull by the horns and wrestle with it like a child wrestling with a puppy…

There is one I remember the most…

I had come to visit my father and while I was rototilling garden he started waving his hands…

He pointed behind me and there was a five point buck standing within arm’s reach…

It was clear that God had given my father an amazing gift…
I truly believe this is the way God meant our life to be…

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. (Isaiah 11:5-7)

Faults
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (James 5:16)

This verse is often misquoted as:
Confess your sins one to another…
There is a difference between faults and sins

Telling a lie is a sin…
A weakness towards telling lies is a fault…

OK, just what is the point here…?

Just like an alcoholic is always going to have a weakness when it comes to drinking…
We all tend to have weaknesses towards certain types of sins…

In my case pride and greed are areas I struggle with the most…
That does not mean I am immune to other types of sin…

The people who are closes to me know this…
When they see a red flag appear they jump in…
I could say step in, however in my case jumping is often required…
