Idols and False Gods
The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.
(Psalms 135:15)
Anything or anyone can become an idol or a false god, all we have to do is
worship them…
Idols and false gods only have the powers we give them…
They only see what we can imagine…
They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;
(Psalms 135:16)
They only hear what we tell ourselves…
They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths. (Psalms 135:17)
False gods only live in our earthly desires…
They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them. (Psalms 135:18)
We may not believe in the idol…
However, the people who create them often have great charisma…
So, we can end up believing in them…
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. (Matthew 24:24)
We must always be on guard…
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
(Psalms 28:7)
We do not get this from a hunk of metal, stone or even a person…

Help My Unbelief
And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child. And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. (Mark 9:21-22)
This very caring father is desperately looking for someone to help his son…
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. (Mark 9:23-24)
This is one of the most powerful statements of faith in the entire Bible…
All too often it is simply over looked…
Jesus says to this man you must believe…
This father knows that no matter how hard he tries to believe there will always be that lingering doubt…
He understands he can not get there on his own so he calls on Jesus for help…
This level of faith is nothing short of amazing…
He is not only asking Jesus to heal his child…
He is also asking Jesus to grant him the faith to believe…
(foot note: there are some who say the child was not possessed by demons he just had epilepsy. If they wish to believe this then they must except that Jesus just cured this child. Either way it is still a miracle…)
